Chapter News for July-August 2024

Spring has been busy! The Capitol City Chapter Steak Fry was held again in Loretto at Steve and Shawn Taylor’s beautiful home. Good food, thanks to Richard Darling and crew for grilling, and members for delicious potluck dishes.

The Region Judging Meet was held this year in Detroit Lakes. The 412 Lakes Chapter always does things up in a spectacular way. The judges breakfast consisted of fried eggs, sausage and toast, all prepared at the park.

I learned about judging and what goes into it when John Rempfer asked me to partner up with Rod Boyer to help judge some of the beautiful cars. It is a lot more effort than I ever realized.  After judging, a great catered lunch was served. The rain held off until we were on our way back to Ramsey.

Now to upcoming events. Capitol City will hold a car show and ice cream social on July 14 at Parkview UCC. This is where we hold our meetings and the show is to thank them as they don’t charge us any rent.

The Region Steak Fry is August 4th at the park in  Chaska. Don’t forget to bring an item (or several) for the silent auction. Proceeds go to the Region.

Capitol City’s Chicken Fry is August 11. This year, it will be at our church meeting place instead of Wolens, due to ongoing road construction on Highway 10.

There will be a car show at Harmony Gardens on August 8. This is becoming an annual event with several cars attending. The residents love to walk around and they love asking questions, talking and reminiscing about the cars. It’s such a good feeling to see their eyes light up when they recognize a car from their past.

We will again be represented by driving in the U of M Homecoming Parade. If you can, and have a convertible, please call Vince Smith to let him know you would like to participate.

Back to the 50s is past but there are several car shows around the area. One big show every Friday night is the History Cruzers in North St. Paul.

See you there!
