Chapter News: July-August 2017

Hello to everyone from the Northland, summer will be up- on us soon and the start of the old car season is here with many events and outings to attend.

Since my last article the Arrowhead Chapter has been gearing up to host the 26th  Annual Crank-Up Tour along with Itasca Vintage Car Club, June 5th  through June 8th  the tour will include Moorhead, Fargo, and Grand Forks.

Monday, June 5, the Arrowhead Chapter meet at the rest stop in Floodwood then off to Remer to meet up with the Grand  Rapids  group,  then  off  to  Detroit  Lakes  for lunch, then to Moorhead to visit the Hjemkomst Museum, then back to the hotel.

Tuesday, June 6, we toured Odegaard Wings Inc. in Kindred, ND, a factory that makes wings and body parts for WWII aircraft to be restored. Then itís off to tour the Air Museum and Reed & Taylor Antiques, then back to hotel.

Wednesday, June 7, the group headed to Mayville, ND to tour Steve Vollaís car collection and museum, a very impressive collection, then weíre off to Wes Rydellís Toy Shop then to Plain & Fancy Antiques in Grand Forks, ND, then back to the hotel for food and R & R.

Thursday, June 8, the group went to Perkins Restaurant in Bemidji, MN for our last lunch stop with conversation about the past 4 daysí events. From here everyone is on their own to head home.

Thank you to Gerry & Connie Broman for hosting this massive, fun- filled event, also thank you to Itasca Vintage Car Club for attending and Arrowhead Chapter members: Blaedeís, Bromanís, Finnís and all who attended.

I also want to remind everyone that Back To The 50ís car show will be June 23-25, at the MN State Fair Grounds in Falcon Heights MN. Lots of hot rods and old cars to see.

Last, but not least, I am saddened to report that long time member of the Arrowhead Chapter Margaret Ahlberg passed away on May 12th, 2017 surrounded by her family. I have many fond memories of Margaret and she will truly be missed. Have a great summer and happy motoring!
